Flying six F-16 Fighting Falcons, the USAF Thunderbirds’ demonstration shows the pride, professionalism and precision that the USAF represents.
The Thunderbirds, known as America’s Ambassadors in Blue, aim to excite and inspire everyone who sees them. Formed in 1953, the Thunderbirds have been the Air Force’s official air demonstration team for 70 years.
Did you know?
- Their four-ship Diamond formation aims to showcase the precision of the pilots.
- Prior to the F-16, the Thunderbirds have flown five other aircraft: the F-84G Thunderjet, F-105 Thunderchief, F-100C Super Sabre, F-4 Phantom, and the T-38 Talon.
- It takes only 72 hours for a Thunderbird jet to be made combat ready.
