Vampire-DH115
The de Havilland DH-115 is the worlds first single engine jet fighter. Development for the aircraft began in 1943, during the Second World War.
The goal of this aircraft was to harness the new invention of jet propulsion. In 1946, the first production of the aircraft entered service with the RAF. The Vampire quickly replaced many wartime piston-engine fighter aircraft. It was operated as a front-line fighter until 1953.
